Inspired by: MagaZINEs.

Lately I've been tossing around ideas, trying to pin-point exactly what I would like to achieve, and how I can do it. After a lot of vague ideas and brainstorming - no, that's a lie.. Ahem, after a lot of vague ideas and taking a peak at Nylon Magazine after a long, long time, I think I'm going to create a zine of my own.

Of course the idea is still being developed, and if this does happen, it won't be until this summer probably. But, I would really like to do this, and I feel like even if it isn't successful, it will still be something that I can look back on and be proud of. And to all the folks who purchase one, it'll be like a you own a dinosaur. It's rare.

And because Fashematics.

I Want Pizza.

My favorite thing is when food and fashion come together to make something incredibly tasty and awesome.

Ladies & gents:

They're $40 for a shirt, but it's a PIZZA. SHIRT. The two come together and it's only $40? Yes please. This will be my next big purchase. Better than any cat shirt I could ask for.

Also, how great is her outfit? Pizza and flannel? Ugh. A match made in heaven.

Spring Cleaning.

I've decided to re-vamp my closet for summer time. And I'm moving, so why not?

I honestly just want all the black wedges in the world, along with pastels and flowers. And maybe some more leather and things thrown in there.

I really want to start wearing bandeaus and bustiers this summer. I'll probably have to make them because stores never sell any that are my size, but then they'll just be that much cooler.

Off to do grown-up things or something.. Have a great day!

It's Killin' Me.

shirt - vintage // shorts - forever 21 // hat, shoes & sunglasses - urban outfitters // necklace - vintage

Hello April, thank you for bringing sunshine into my life this weekend. It's 93 degrees in Fresno right now, and this weather is only getting me pumped for summer time. I honestly cannot wait to wear shorts 24/7, go swimming every week, and get real tan. Summer just makes everything seem like more fun.

Sorry for my little hiatus, I got my wisdom teeth pulled two days ago. Yep, only two days ago. Surprisingly, I haven't shown any bruising on my face, but my jaw does hurt like bears, and I'm still taking vicodin for the pain. You can kind of see swelling in the pictures, not a lot, but it's there. I'm just glad to be healing seemingly quick, and I hope the pain goes away within the next couple of days so that I can eat normal again.

I also dyed my hair! Finally got rid of that awkward orange poking through from the dye-remover. And I went back to the part, rather than straight across bangs. I don't think I'll ever be satisfied with my hair. It's always changing. But the goal is to get it back down to my waist, and it's actually growing pretty fast! Definitely excited about that.

Anyway, I love these shorts and I want to wear them all the time. They were on sale, and they were the last pair in my size. They're not the most comfortable shorts in the world (you definitely cannot sit down in them), but they look cute and they haven't broken or ripped yet, so maybe I got lucky? We'll see!

Off to work, hope everyone had a great weekend.

P.S. Please go "like" the Recycled dress that Urban Outfitters made, on facebook! Read the last post for instructions on how to do so. Today is the last day for voting! Thank you so much!

Recycle The Runway!

You may or may not know that I work for Urban Outfitters. Well, I do. And it is one of the best jobs I've ever had, not only because they have awesome clothes, but because I love my co-workers. And I can say that with complete and total honesty.

The past couple of days have been completely committed to building a dress out of recycled material we have in the store, to compete in Recycle The Runway; A competition between stores in the mall to see who can build the better dress, strictly out of scrap material.

We took two days to prepare. The first day took the longest. Our team of six had to come up with a design that we all liked, and that we could make physically possible. After three and a half hours of creating and tearing apart, we finally got our design down. The second day was our challenge day. We were told we had one hour to build this dress for the final competition, so we decided to time ourselves to see how long it would take us to make it, and make it look good.
Half an hour later, we're done.
Today we show up at the mall, ready to go, all wearing flannel button-ups, pumped, thinking we can get this done so fast and just show up everyone, when the lady running the event tells us we have an entire TWO HOURS to make this dress. So instead, we took our sweet time, added a purse to our design, and made the most beautiful dress that you would never guess was all recycled material.

Gift card & string purse! My co-worker Ashlee has magical powers.

Folded paper bags make the skirt of our dress.

All materials used: paper bags, string, tissue paper, gift cards, mesh bags.

Now the only thing left, which is what I need your guys' help with, is to VOTE!

Here's how to do it:
- If you live in Fresno, or close to Fresno, you can go to the mall from today until this Sunday, and submit your ballot. All of the dresses will be on display in the center of the mall, by Macy's and Starbucks.
- If you don't live in Fresno, or you don't want to visit the mall, you can vote for our dress TONIGHT (4/18) through Sunday (4/22) at ! Make sure that when the pictures are posted, that you "like" the photo of our dress, and NOT just the album! It's the individual photo "likes" that count.

I think we did an incredible job. And even if we don't win, I'm really proud of my team/co-workers: Ashley, Ashlee, Johnny, Gabe & Megan!

Thanks everyone! Hope you have a splendid Wednesday! I get my wisdom teeth pulled in one day!

Inspired by: Kimbra

I've been in a huge rut with my style lately. I just want to get rid of all of my clothes and start fresh, and I'm seriously considering it. I feel like at this point last year I was really content, and really confident with my style, and I was trying really hard to figure out why, and the only thing I could come up with was that I had my really long, messy hair.

Hair is an accessory. Don't ever doubt that. Don't ever cut your hair, also.

Anyway, if there's one lady I've been motivated and inspired by, it's Kimbra. Not only is she an incredible musician, but she's also got the raddest style I've seen in a while. Let's all take a moment to adore her:

What a freaking cutie pie. And she's only a few years older than me.. Crazy.

Have a good day everyone! I have a huge favor I need to ask of you all tomorrow, so stay tuned.

The Only Place.

sweater & shirt - thrifted // shorts - forever 21 // shoes - ross // purse - urban outfitters

I have to go to work soon so I'm just going to list everything:

- I need to dye my hair. I hate the orangey-brown that is poking through due to dying it black and then using a dye remover to get it back to brown.
- I want my long hair back. Never cut your hair, kids.
- I cut my shoes. They were cowboy boots but I hated them, so I cut the tops off and made them ankle boots. D.I.Y. or die, son.
- Bethany Cosentino is my spirit animal today.

I usually have some sort of summer clothing wish list that I try to complete, but since I need to save as much money as possible for moving (hooray!), I'm just going to try to acquire a few pairs of shoes this season. And, the shoes I want are going to be completely out of season, and make my feet horribly sweaty and gross, but sometimes you just have to go big or go home.

I want to collect black wedges/platforms. And these are the few styles I've been eye-balling:

$29.80 at Forever 21
I hate Forever 21. I really do. They're cheap and unreliable and they always have terrible customer service. Maybe I just hate it because Fresno has the second largest F21 in history (three stories high, 150,000 sq. feet.. ugh.) But look at these shoes. Just look at them. They are beautiful, and I want them.

$99.00 at Urban Outfitters
Where do I even begin with these babies? It's all the things I long for in one shoe.. Platform, Wedge, Bow, Black.. it's perfect. I think the lovely lady Ashlee over at Spooks And Scales has these, and she rocks them so well.

Go check out her blog if you haven't yet! We're going to be a match made in style Heaven when I move to Sacramento.

 $128.00 at Urban Outfitters
I love Jeffrey Campbell, and I don't care if he's just a cheap rip-off of couture designers. I can afford his shoes and still look awesome so yeah. These are too, too cute. I just want to pair them with a strapless floral dress and an oversized purse and walk around the city all day with a slurpee. Perhaps a dog can be involved too.

$170.00 at Akira
I am still lusting so hard over these. That is all.

5. A simple pair of Black Platform Wedge Booties.
I have no idea where to find an affordable version of these. You'd think that plain 'ol black wedge booties would be easy to find, but nope.. So many peep toes and cut out's. These ones are Dolce & Gabbana, but if you know where I can find a pair like this for cheap, holla at your girl. I'm thinking I could find some on Wholesale Dress, I just haven't looked through the millions of pages for "black wedges".

Anyway, I wear a women's size 8 shoe so.. you know what to do? ;)

Happy Monday!

I got a pair of Cooperative wedges that look just like the J.C. ones listed as #3! Yay!

Deanna's Nonsense Corner.

Hello, and welcome.
Alright I'm back in action! I took a weekend off.. a really long, fun, awesome weekend. But don't say I didn't warn you, because I totally did. I also really lagged on doing the random drawing for the winner of the floral headpiece, so I'm going to do that RIGHT NOW before you guys get really mad at me.

And the winner is..
Congratulations girl! Be sure to check your e-mail so that I can send the headpiece off to you!
And for all of you losers, (haha, I'm just kidding!) I'll be doing more give-a-way's this summer, I'm sure, so stay tuned, and thank you so much for entering!

I've recently been inspired by Sarah Whitney over at Pandora's Box. I want all of her shoes. And all of her denim. Yep. Here's some of my favorite looks of hers so you can all swoon over them as well:

Too. Freaking. Rad. All the time. I think my shoe collection needs to expand.. Too bad none of my friends share the same shoe size with me.

I do know that my wardrobe will significantly expand this August, when I move to Sacramento with my best friend Carmen. She may not be into sharing all of her clothes with me, but she has no choice. (Sorry Carmen?) Anyway, since I am moving to the state capital, I want to get to know a bunch of you bloggers/fashionistas/street-style enthusiasts/punks/losers/aliens. Let's hang out! Let's get coffee and go thrifting! I've already met a few of you via Facebook, but when I physically move, I want to be exposed to all that you do. Get in contact with me, let's make it happen!

I think that's all I have to say. Here's some pictures from my awesome weekend, not because you didn't believe me, but because I like to brag:

Stay fre$h. YOLO.

Back To Basics.

sweater - thrifted // shirt - target // pants, shoes & sunglasses - urban outfitters // socks - forever 21

52 degrees, cloudy and windy outside today in Fresno. This is an "I'm upset, where is my sunshine?" outfit - All black with a little pop of color at my feet. If I read that fast enough it almost looks like I said "a little poop of color". That's gross.

Anyway, I've been working out, and you probably can't tell. I guess the black doesn't help, because black automatically makes you look slimmer, but I am! I feel like I should mention that I'm not doing it because I want to be skinny. I'm already fairly skinny. I'm doing it because I want to be healthy, and there's a difference. Weight is a huge controversy in the fashion world, and I honestly think it's ridiculous, because a lot of times the argument is very narrow minded. Lots of girls are skinny, that doesn't mean they're anorexic or bulimic. On the other hand, a lot of girls are also thick and that doesn't mean they're "fat". Neither one is better than the other, because we are all women, and we all hold our own beauty. I think Madeline says it best in one of her older (yet one of my favorite) blog posts, which you can read by clicking here.

Speaking of Madeline, The Curious Closet will be selling a series of tie-dye'd beanies very, very soon, and Madeline has volunteered her name to be a style of beanie, along with many other lovely folks. These are the names that were picked, and will up for sale real soon!
The Madeline
The Haili
The Ashley
The Jeni
The Donovan
and hopefully.. The Eye. (Which is my favorite and in pre-production still, but if all goes as planned, you guys and dolls are in for a treat!)

Here is some other jibber jabber that I need to mention:
1. Go enter the contest to win the Floral Head Piece! It goes until Saturday, so you still have time! And for the amount of times you guys reblogged & liked it on Tumblr, I'd expect a lot more entries!
2. If there is a lack of updates, or an excessive amount of updates these next few days, it's because one of my really good friends is coming to town, and we're going to the beach this weekend! I'll probably post pictures from that, since it's sure to be a blast.

Happy Wednesday! The week is almost over!
